at Spirit Lake Ministry Center
Our name, The Journey at Spirit Lake, is based on the Dakota name “Wanagi Canku,” which means Spirit Road. We are a group dedicated to God and committed to sharing time and bread with one another.
We worship every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Worship includes music, a time to learn more about God, fun and laughter, and Communion and a meal at least once per month. Arthur Hall (our place of worship) is filled every week with lots of kids, grandmas and grandpas, and parents. Because family is so important to our congregation, we try to do as many events together throughout the year as possible, which might include going to the local pumpkin patch, having holiday parties, and more! To expand our opportunities for community, we recently started a youth night on Wednesdays where we offer a safe place to learn about Jesus, to eat a meal together, and to just be free to be a teenager!
In the summer, the elders are very interactive with our work teams, and join us to share their culture with the team – including learning how to make fry bread!!! We work closely and partner with First United Methodist church in Devils Lake by offering Communion and Baptism, and of course, having a Saturday once a year for all the ladies of both congregations to get together at the ministry for lunch and to pray for the upcoming summer. The invitation is always open to stop by when you are in the area and attend our services – we love to meet new people and see old friends.

Our Wednesday night gatherings give youth and young adults 13 years old and up the opportunity to spend time with each other in a safe environment at Spirit Lake Ministry Center. No drugs, alcohol, vaping, smoking, or bullying are allowed. This is a place where we feed our souls and support others through friendship, prayer, and laughter.
